Pasta Bella, the sister restaurant of Pasta Pizza is located along the river of Robertson Quay. This 5-year old restaurant is popular with Italian cuisine aficionados and prides itself on serving simple and authentic fare painstakingly prepared using traditional recipes and premium ingredients imported from various regions in Italy.
E. Shajith A. Randeniya who helms the kitchen is from Sri Lanka and not Italy, however the quality of the food has been endorsed by many foodies. Chef E. Shajith trained under Italian chefs for many years and mastered the art of Italian cooking over the years. He strongly believes in retaining the original recipes and maintaining the authenticity of the food.
Pasta Bella is within a walking distance from my workplace, therefore my hubby and I decided to try the food last week. We like the fresh ingredients and natural flavours.

Rocket salad with asparagus and smoked salmon
The healthy insalata di rucola asparagi e salmone (rocket salad with asparagus and smoked salmon) provided a refreshing start to the meal. The saltiness of the smoked salmon was a lovely contrast to the sweet, peppery taste of the rocket salad.

Linguine with calamari, clams and shrimps, fresh tomato in a seafood-tomato sauce
My favourite dish was the linguine ai frutti di mare (linguine with calamari, clams and shrimps, fresh tomato in a seafood-tomato sauce. The execution was flawless and every bite was intensely satisfying. The pasta was al dente and the seafood sauce was robust without being too overpowering.

Homemade potato dumpling in four cheese cream
Those who prefer something heavier can opt for the gnocchi ai quattro formagi (homemade potato dumpling in a four cheese cream. This may be a tad heavy for those who are not a fan of cheeses, however, I found it very flavourful. The sauce was rich and creamy and had a smooth consistency. The presentation was not the most exciting, however, each morsel filled me with delight.

Tiramisu
For dessert, be captivated by the alluring flavours of the tiramisu (translated as ‘pick me up’) in Italian. This classic dessert combines lady finger biscuits, espresso, mascarpone cheese, eggs, sugar, Kahlua or rum and cocoa powder. The delicate layers of mascarpone cheese and custard contrasted with the strong taste of espresso and the pleasant taste of the cocoa powder, bringing forth a luxurious treat for your taste buds.

Set lunch main course - Tagliatelle tossed with shrimp, roasted capsicum and spinach aglio olio style
I was impressed with the tagliatelle con gamberetti peperoni e spinaci ( tagliatelle tossed with shrimp, roasted capsicum and spinach in aglio olio style). It was light and immensely gratifying. The combination of the roasted capsicum and spinach was lovely and well balanced in textures and flavours.
