To-gather Cafe - A Home Away from Home
Dining at To-gather
To-gather, a hip and cosy café was established in December last year. It is the brainchild of three sisters –Hong Wei Ting, 22, We Ling 25 and their cousin Crystal Yeo, 25. Created with Togetherness in mind, this trendy café is a home away from home for the young and the young at heart. The concept is refreshingly simple, with a woody interior and clean white chairs.
Inspiring messages
What attracted me was the inspiring and catchy messages adorning the walls such as “The more we get together, the happier we’ll be," "The best things in life are unseen, that’s why we close our eyes when we kiss, laugh and dream.”
The interior
The minute I entered the café, I got the feeling of being at home. The ambience was relaxed, casual and homely, putting one instantly at ease. The restaurant staff was amicable and down-to-earth and service was good. The menu is pretty extensive with starters, all-day breakfast items, main courses, pastas and baked rice and desserts. Diners can also look forward to a different soup everyday.
Cream of mushroom soup
The soup of the day was mushroom soup. The texture was acceptable but I personally found it a little too salty.
Baked salmon fillet
My favourite dish was the baked salmon fillet accompanied with lemon, butter sauce, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The lemon butter sauce complemented well with the salmon and the mashed potato was creamy and flavourful. It was light on the palate and comforting to the senses.
Mexican quesadilla
The Mexican quesadilla was well executed too. The combination of tortilla with grilled chicken slices, sautéed mixed bell peppers, mozzarella cheese and fresh tomato salsa was delightful and gratifying.
Spaghetti carbonara
The spaghetti carbonara brimmed with generous servings of diced chicken, bacon and mushrooms. The spaghetti was al dente and the sauce was lovely, creamy but not overly rich.
Warm lava chocolate cake topped with vanilla gelato
I concluded my meal with the warm lava chocolate cake topped with vanilla gelato, which was one of the café’s signature desserts. The taste was pleasant and presented a lovely combination of texture and flavour in every mouthful.
