Indulgent Afternoon Tea at Anti:dote

I have a weakness for confections, pastries, basically almost anything that tastes sweet. Anti:dote, a chic and stylish cocktail bar at Fairmont Singapore Hotel has a very lavish high tea set which is sure to set your taste-buds aflutter.


The ambience of Anti:dote is elegant and cosy and I fell in love with it the minute I stepped in. Anti:dote’s signature high tea set ($45) consists of a medley of savoury bites and dainty pastries.

The Antidote Tea


You can opt for The Antidote Tea or The Oriental Tea. The only difference is that The Antidote Tea comes with black truffle scrambled egg while The Oriental tea includes a selection of steamed and fried Hong Kong dim sum. I chose The Antidote Tea as it sounded more enticing.

The truffle scrambled egg was the first dish that was served. It was presented in a delicate egg shell and topped with fine truffles. The earthy and aromatic truffles enhanced the overall taste of the scrambled eggs.

Next, the high tea set was served in a pretty cabinet with four drawers filled with lovely treats. I felt like a little girl in a candy stall, unveiling one drawer at a time. Each drawer is filled with different surprises. The top drawer abounds with exquisitely crafted pastries such as the strawberry gateau, limoncino napoleon, chocolate pralines, red cherry rose ball, framboise lychee macaron, chocolate dipped strawberries and more. My favourite is the framboise lychee macaron which is visually appealing and delectable as well.

The second drawer brims with tasty creations including smoked salmon, lemon and dill cream cheese, ikura roe, Boston lobster roll, confit, lemon and chervil, iberico ham quiche, mozzarella, black truffle, confit duck rillettes, foie gras terrine, pickled onion and coronation curried chicken with apple. The Boston lobster roll was the main highlight, it was succulent and delicious and the confit lemon added citrus notes to it.


The third drawer contained delicious warm raisin and candied ginger scones baked to perfection. The scones with homemade strawberry jam, Devonshire clotted cream and lemon curd are heavenly treats for the senses.


The final drawer was filled with tastefully packed Anti:dote’s cookies which you can consume on the spot or bring home.

Overall, Anti:dote is an ideal place for a tête-à-tête with close friends. The food is awesome and beautifully assembled. Price is slightly on the high side at $45++ per person but the food and ambience make up for it.


The Afternoon Tea is available on Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 5pm. On Friday to Sunday, eve of public holidays and public holidays, it is available from 12pm to 2pm (first seating) and 3pm to 5pm (second seating).
